Police Performance

For an Enhanced CRB check, an additional check is required over and above those carried out for a Standard check, and this is carried out by police.

The CRB is reliant on the police carrying out their checks within agreed targets, failure to do so impacts on CRB's ability to achieve the Public Service Standards for Enhanced checks.

The Performance Service Standards between the CRB and each Police Force Disclosure unit states that:

  • 75% of checks must be completed in 10 days
  • 95% of checks must be completed in 14 days*
  • 99% of checks must be completed in 25 days
  • 100% of checks must be completed in 60 days

* Failure to achieve this target may affect CRB's ability to meet its public service standards for Enhanced CRB checks.

Please note: An Enhanced CRB check may be sent to any number of Police Forces, not just those where the applicant has lived, to carry out searches of locally held information.

Past performance is not indicative of current or future performance.

Police force performance can vary month-by-month as a result of any combination of the following factors:

  • Demand: Fluctuations in demand for CRB checks over and above planned volumes.
  • Staffing: Recruitment and retention issues.
  • Systems/process: System upgrades and the roll-out of the Quality Assurance Framework.
