Czech Republic
The Criminal Records Register situated in Prague
provides criminal record extracts to individuals upon
request. Information from the Register is used for the
purpose of criminal or administrative proceedings and for proof
that a person does not have a criminal record in the Czech
Republic.
Application Procedure
If applying from within the Czech Republic:
An individual may apply for an extract direct from the Head
Office of the Criminal Records Register in Prague or at the
CzechPoint office (eGovernment project), where the extract is
issued 'while you wait'.
An individual may also apply for an extract of their criminal
record at registry offices (approximately 1600 locations) within
the Czech Republic.
The individual must also provide identification documents in
support of their application. This is usually a passport,
Czech national ID card, Residence Card and a birth certificate.
There is no requirement to specify the reason for the request.
If applying from the UK:
Czech Nationals, UK nationals or foreign nationals who have
spent a period of residence in the Czech Republic can apply for an
extract via the Consular section of the Embassy of the Czech
Republic at the following address:

An individual has to apply in person on appointment. Appointment
can be made Monday to Friday between 9am and 12pm by calling
020 7243 1115.
An individual must provide identity documents in support of
their application, i.e. passport, Czech national ID Card, Residence
Card and an original (or certified copy) of their birth
certificate.
There is also a consular fee for processing an application.
Cost
Applications made from within the Czech Republic:
There is an administrative charge of CZK 50 for processing
an application for a criminal record extract.
Applications made from the UK:
There is consular fee, which is subject to change according to
the exchange rate. An individual may pay in cash, or by
postal orders made payable to the Embassy of the Czech
Republic. (Personal cheques or banking cards are not
accepted.)
Content of certificates
The Criminal Records Register only includes information about
crimes under penal law. It does not contain information on
petty offences. The data on a person is deleted from the register
at different times according to the severity of the punishment.
Turnaround time
Extracts will be produced 'while you wait' if the individual
applies in person direct to the Head Office of the Criminal Records
Register in Prague or at the CzechPoint office (eGovernment
project).
For Czech or foreign nationals who make an application in person
at one of the registry offices in the Czech Republic, applications
will be processed within approximately 2 – 3 weeks.
The turnaround time for processing applications made via the
Embassy by an individual who does not have a Czech Identification
Number is approximately 3 to 4 weeks of filing an
application. The extract can be collected in person or sent
by post provided that the applicant encloses a stamped
self-addressed envelope.
The CRB has taken all reasonable
steps to ensure that the information contained herein is as
accurate and comprehensive as possible. In order to maintain the
accuracy of the information, the CRB will update the information
periodically.
However, the CRB cannot be held responsible for the
level of service provided by overseas authorities. As such, please
do not contact the CRB regarding applications submitted to overseas
authorities.
