News item: New Passport
In October, the Identity & Passport
Service (IPS) will launch a new design for the UK Passport.
The new UK passport will feature improved physical and electronic
security features to ensure it remains one of the most trusted and
secure documents in the world.
The UK passport is commonly provided to verify
identity when applying for a CRB check. Registered bodies should
familiarise themselves with the changes to the UK passport.
Previously issued passports will remain valid until their
expiry.
IPS have produced a leaflet called ‘Changes to the Passport’
which can be downloaded at http://www.ips.gov.uk/
News item: Identity documents guidance
On the front of the new application form, the
‘identity documents’ guidance states that
‘At least one document must confirm your
current address, as recorded in section b, and be no older than 3
months.’
Please note that this guidance is factually
incorrect and should be disregarded. The CRB would like to
apologise for any inconvenience caused in issuing this guidance as
part of the new application form.
The correct guidance on identity documents is provided in the
‘ID Checking Process’
section of the website. Please ensure that you refer to the
online guidance regularly for the latest information and updated ID
documents that can be accepted as part of the CRB process.
